Showcase Sunday #8

Showcase Sunday is a weekly meme hosted by Books, Biscuits, and Tea
This is where each Sunday, we can "showcase" what we've gotten in the way of books;
in the mail, at the bookstore, the library, or as a gift!

Ok, this should be my last Showcase Sunday featuring "books bought" because I need to enforce a severely strict BOOK BUYING BAN for the next few months. I have bought TOO many books in the past few months and I haven't gotten through ANY of them. I definitely don't have book buyers remorse (LOL, like that exists!), but I guess what I'm feeling is pressure to read the books I already have. It sounds weird, but I love the thrill of a the chase... in the book buying world. When a book has a release date, I count down the days and hours until I can buy it and then once I have it, I move on to the next soon-to-be released book. There really should be medical coverage for book therapy. I'll bet even authors would back this up.

Without further ado...

Books Bought:

I am in love with this series. The first book, Pure, my review here, took me a heck of a long time to finish, but it was worth it because I couldn't get the story out of my head for months. Once I had moved on to other books towards the end of 2012, I had forgotten about how long I would have to wait for the next book, Fuse, to be released in 2013. Well... I was on Goodreads in the middle of January and there was an advertisement on the side of the page for Fuse... and BOOM. All these emotions and feels came rushing back to me and I saw the release date which was a month away and I FREAKED all over again. I really hope it doesn't take me half a year to get through this second installment because all my other books start making sad faces from their spot on the bookshelf and then I have to hide from them when I read. NOT EASY.

The indie book seller out here could pretty much live off the profits of my special orders alone, and that makes me all warm and fuzzy inside as well as sad and distraught that most of my moneys is gone because I CAN'T CONTROL MY BOOKOHOLIC TENDENCIES. Sheesh, I guess this is the post for overuse of capital letters for emphasis. Moving on...

Books Traded:

YA Book Exchange has become one of the 5 websites I visit every time I come online: Email, Facebook, Blogger, my bank's website, and YA Book Exchange. I mentally slap myself whenever I think about all the books I've given away or donated to the library when I could have been saving them for future trades! (Sorry library, I love you, but you have enough books without my donations and I'm over protective of my preciousssssss')

Thanks to Vivien for this trade on YA Book Exchange!

Thanks to Holly for this trade on YA Book Exchange!

In exchange for helping the owner of my local indie bookstore with editing facebook posts, she gave me these two ARC's! Both ARC's have different covers from their finished copies. If You Find Me has a bunch of review quotes as well as what the final book will look like on the cover, and Speechless has this tag line at the bottom that says, "Saying She's Sorry Isn't Enough".

E-Books Bought:

I know I've been saying I wouldn't buy an e-book until I made some head way in the ones I currently have, but I devoured the first book in this series, The Fallen Star, my review here, and since that was free, I figured $.99 for the second book really makes it $.99 for BOTH BOOKS. AM I RIGHT?

Also, I know the cover model is portraying the main character, Gemma, but I still see an emo-dude wearing eyeliner casting a purple glittery magic spell with his weird claw hand. Good thing you don't have to look at the cover of e-books whenever you put them down because I might not be able to focus on anything else if I had to see this everyday. /End cover design judging.

Thaattt's all for me this week! Like I said, if I have anything showcasing next week other than books I've traded, I need y'all to virtually slap me over the head and bury my wallet somewhere that doesn't have access to the internet, cause you know I won't risk that type of exposure to the real world. ;)

Happy Reading!

  1. Speechless looks so cool! And I love the whole minimalist cover going on. I'm also so glad you're loving YA Book Exchange! Looks like you've got some pretties from it ;)

I remember that you were having trouble finishing Pure, but I'm super glad that it ended up being good enough in the end that you bought the sequel (isn't that really the sign of a stellar book?)

Awesome haul this week! Happy Reading :D

    1. I don't know why I got the impression The Different Girl would be light and fluffy, but it's definitely not the tone in the beginning. I'm only a few pages in and I feel like I'm on another planet!

      Thanks for stopping by, Heather!

    1. One of the great things about Pure, and I hope will be true about Fuse, is that it's a large book, and it took me a while to read, but I never felt intimidated by how long it took me to get through it because I felt like I was in their world while I was reading. (sorry for that run on sentence!) The story is based off of a very viable possibility and it makes it all that more realistic.

      Thanks for the comment, Valerie!

    1. I just hope Fuse isn't a sophomore slump. I'll read the 3rd book in the series even if it is, but it's always a bonus when the author can bring the awesome in the sequels after such a fantastic debut.

Thanks for checking out my haul, Andrea!
